SCAN Reports

SCANSM supports a variety of reports that are available via the Web.

Non-Compliance Report

The Non-Compliance Report is a list of checks that were taken by the retailer even though the check was on the Negative File. The report is used in two fashions. The first and primary way is to provide the retailer with feedback as to how well their stores are following policy and actually declining the checks when they are supposed to. The second way it can be used is to identify any days that may be missing on the retailers' negative file, indicating a file-processing problem. If we see repeated non-compliance items that were supposed to have been added to the retailers' file this may indicate that the retailer either didn't receive the file update or they didn't process the file correctly.

Referral Value Report

This report is a list of checks that a retailer collected on shortly after the consumer was referred to the retailer by EFD call center. This report demonstrates the value of having the retailers' data on the SCAN Negative file. If a consumer is stopped as a result of the check that the retailer contributed to SCAN and they paid the item within 30 days of that referral, EFD considers that to have assisted in the collections effort.

Quarterly Reports

This is a set of eight reports that show the trends for the retailer over the last five quarters. The reports are broken into two different categories: Member Experience Reports and Member Performance Reports.

Member Experience Reports

These reports show the characteristics of the checks that are being returned to the retailer. A good understanding of these characteristics can help improve check acceptance policies at POS. The reports are:

Member Performance Reports

The performance reports highlight areas where the retailer may be able to improve the performance of their check acceptance environment. These reports are:

Store Summary Report

This report summary returned check activity by store. For each store, it provides the number, amount and average dollar amount of checks returned, along with the number and amount of the payments. This report is useful in tracking the performance of a store's check portfolio.

Returned Check Analysis

This report allows the retailer to segment the checks by check number to view the characteristics of those checks. The checks are sorted by store and provide days to contribute, multiple checks, non-NSF and Non-compliance information for those checks.

SCAN OnLine Reports

SCAN OnLineSM customers receive or have access to the full set of SCAN reports. In addition, SCAN OnLine users have access via the Web Reporting System to the following Reports.

Billing Report

This report lists the number and type of transaction for a specified billing period (selected by billing month).

Response Code Summary Report

This report allows the retailer to look at transactions within a user-specified date range by response code. The retailer can then drill down into a particular response code to view those response codes by store. From the store-level, the user can drill down to individual transaction detail.

Risk Strategy Report

This report displays by risk strategy the total number of transactions, approvals, declines and manager referrals. From the initial screen, the user can drill down to response codes by risk strategy and individual transaction detail.

OnLine Non-Compliance Report

This report differs from the normal non-compliance report by indicating not only what checks were accepted that were on the negative file at the time, but also what checks the system issued a Decline response for and returned as a bad check. This report does not look at Manager Referrals for non-compliance. The retailer can drill down by score range and view the number of non-compliant items for that score range by store. From there, the user can access transaction detail.
